Morten Flate Paulsen is a professor of online education and CEO of Campus NooA, the Nordic open online Academy in Norway. He was president (2010-2013) of the EDEN - European Distance and E-learning Network, working for Universidade Aberta in Portugal and was appointed Adjunct Professor at Athabasca University in Canada. He holds a PhD in Adult Education from Pennsylvania State University.

Until he started NooA, he worked for many years as director of innovation and development at NKI Nettstudier and Professor of online education at the Norwegian School of Information Technology (NITH) in Norway. He was President of the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN) until 2013, and he was on the European Association for Distance Learning (EADL) R&D committee until November 2010.

In the school year 2009-2010, he worked for Universidade Aberta in Portugal. From 1999 to 2005, He was appointed Adjunct Professor, at the Athabasca University, Centre for Distance Education in Canada. He is regional editor for IRRODL (The International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning), EURODL (The European Journal of Open, Distance and E-Learning) and the Asian Journal of Distance Education. He is also on the Editorial Board of seminar.net.

Professor Morten has worked with online education since 1986, and he had a central role in designing the EKKO LMS system and established the NKI Internet College in 1987. This college was probably the first European online college, and few (if any) online colleges in the world has been longer in continuous operation. He has published many books, reports and articles about the topic. Many of his publications and presentations are available via his blog nettstudier.blogspot.com. Professor Morten was the founder of The Distance Education Online Symposium (DEOS), when he worked with the American Center for the Study of Distance Education at The Pennsylvania State University. His dissertation was on "Teaching Techniques for Computer-mediated Communication". This research included a survey of 150 online teachers in 30 countries, and he got his Doctorate of Education from Pennsylvania State University in 1998.
